Hughes Circuits, a technology leader in high reliability and quick turn electronics manufacturing, announced today that it has successfully integrated Laser Direct Imaging to its production process. Laser Direct Imaging is a quantum leap forward in printed circuit board manufacturing. Typically artwork is generated and used as a photo-mask for the imaging process.
With laser direct imaging, defects and process time are greatly reduced as a laser patterns the image directly onto the production panel. The Orbotech Paragon 8800 provides resolution for .001" lines and spaces, as well as extremely accurate soldermask exposure.
"This equipment is exciting since not only does it increase our technical capabilities, but it also reduces cycle time, production costs, and improves quality. With this added technology we are now able to continue our drive towards tighter registration requirements and finer features. Jeff Hughes, VP PCB Manufacturing.
