Test/Repair Technician - Assembly

Reports To: Test Manager

 

Position Description:

The test technician is responsible for testing, reworking of PCBA’s down to the component level to assure conformance to established specifications. Ability to use IPC, ASCII files for programming, read schematics, drawings and related documents. Ability to use soldering/ test equipment (ie:  soldering irons, HOT AIR rework stations, DMM, Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer)

 

Position Responsibilities:

Program FLYING PROBE using IPC, ASCI files and schematic
Diagnose and repair any failed PCBA’s down to the component level
Document all test failures and what was reworked including rework method

 

Responsibilities:

  • Tracking assemblies to be tested/ repaired
  • Cleaning of assemblies to be tested/ repaired
  • Mechanical disassembly of products to obtain electronic assemblies to be tested/ repaired
  • Generation of test procedures for different assemblies.
  • Testing of electronic assemblies
  • Generating test reports
  • Ability to make repair or scrap decision
  • Identify and cross referencing components
  • Using schematics for testing and repair
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly test/ repair area
  • Maintaining and ordering test/ repair supplies and tools
  • Organizing and storage of replacement components and assemblies
  • Working with other team members in adding new assemblies for repair

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
  • Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications Etc. (preferred but not required)

J-STD 001 / IPC-610/ IPC600 Certified
Familiar with BOMs, Drawings, Schematics

  • Ability to use test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer)
  • Demonstrate ability to solder and de-solder
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • Ability to speak, read, and neatly write English
  • Ability to process high school level mathematics
  • Ability to work together as part of a team under limited supervision or independently

 

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Basic computer skills

 

Required Internal Training:

  • HCI Orientation
  • All pertaining process procedures that relate to job function

 

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or up to 50  pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, a depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
